Wiener-Pawlooza is coming together nicely. We are now looking for volunteers for the following:hot dog cookers, food sellers, race registration table, event registration table, Pupsicle sales, setup, cleanup and many other positions. We would like to get enough volunteers so that no one has to give more than 1.5 hours. If you would like to help please email your contact info to WPVolunteer@shaw.ca. Include your position of preference if you have one & we will try to accommodate. Lori will be doing the coordination so she will contact you. Thanks in advance for your help! Darlene Tosczak

With winter upon us, we would like to remind everyone about our policy about other breeds of dogs attending our indoor meetups:
If you wish to bring another breed of dog to our indoor events, it must be one from your own household and it must be on leash at all times, or be put into an exercise pen which you must provide. We just want to keep all dogs safe and happy. If they are not kept under control, or are not behaving, they will have to leave and we will ask you not to bring them again.
Ultimately, this is a dachshund club which is why everyone joined. If we start allowing all breeds to attend our indoor functions, then this is no longer a dachshund club and some of our members may decide to stop coming out. One of the benefits of this club is socialization for dogs that are afraid of (or don’t do well with) other breeds. I know some dogs in the club are afraid of bigger dogs. Also some dogs in the club don’t like the small “fluffy” breeds and may try to pick a fight with them. We have also had incidents where a bigger dog has stepped on or “rolled” one of the dachshunds, and where the dachshunds have become overly curious or aggressive towards the other breeds which has caused problems.
We sincerely hope you understand why we decided to put this into place. This was a difficult decision to make but we hope it will make everyone’s experience with the Lowriders a great one.
Hot dog? Dragon? Angel…or devil? We’ve seen all sorts of costumes in the last 3 years and for our fourth Hallo-Wiener we need you to pull out all the stops! There will be treat bags and prizes for the best costume!
Where: Dogma Training and Pet Services
When: Sunday, October 24th
Time: 2:00pm-4:00pm
Cost: $5.00 per family (not per dog)
Hope to see you all there!
For the second year in a row, we were completely overwhelmed by the success of Wiener-PawLooza. Thank you so much to all of our generous sponsors, our gracious hard-working volunteers and our brave Lowriders who came out in the chilly wet weather to race, have some hot dogs and support the Lowriders and the Alberta Dachshund Rescue. We could not have done this without you and we are already looking forward to next year!
Dian and Parker
Here at the Lowriders, we would like to invite you to share your Doxie pics with us. You can make a post, and once we check it over, we will publish it. Please use discretion. No explicit images, language, or links please. No selling of dogs is allowed. No breeder links unless specifically allowed by Dian as we want to promote responsible breeding of Dachshunds. Try to stay on topic. We are all about Dachsies, so try to keep it in context.
C’mon everyone and post away!
